Gas Heating Systems
Heating packages that hold fuel gas above its hydrocarbon and water dew point through every pressure drop, sized to the turbine's flow and the superheat margin its OEM requires.

Role in the plant
Gas cools as its pressure falls. A heater placed ahead of pressure reduction keeps the gas superheated so liquids never form between the package and the turbine gas control valve, and it brings the fuel into the temperature window the turbine requires.
- Placed upstream of pressure reduction to offset Joule-Thomson cooling
- Heater and gas temperatures recorded at FAT
- Power distribution and controls integrated with the package PLC
Typical package scope
| Element | Function |
|---|---|
| Electric heater | Immersion elements in a pressure vessel, sized to maximum flow and required outlet temperature |
| Power control | Thyristor (SCR) control on outlet temperature |
| Protection | Element and process over-temperature protection with a low-flow interlock |
| Instrumentation | Inlet and outlet temperature and pressure, wired to the package PLC |
| Redundancy | Single, parallel or N+1 heater bundles as the duty requires |
| Integration | Mounted, piped, wired and tested on the conditioning skid or as a stand-alone heating package |
Design basis
Each package is engineered to the project requirements, specifications, governing codes and OEM requirements that apply, for a single installation or a standardized fleet.
| Design input | What it determines |
|---|---|
| Gas flow | Minimum to maximum flow across the turbine operating envelope |
| Supply temperature | Coldest expected gas at the package inlet |
| Dew point | Hydrocarbon and water dew point of the site gas |
| Superheat margin | Margin above dew point required by the turbine OEM |
| Outlet temperature | Temperature window at the turbine gas control valve |
| Area classification | Hazardous-area rating for the heater, panel and wiring |
