Perform welding and cutting with gas and electric equipment to fabricate steel with minimal supervision.
- FCAW and SMAW welding; pass the 4G test on a 3/8 in. coupon
- Operate plasma and oxy-acetylene torches for steel removal
- Use angle grinders and cutting wheels
- Read weld symbols, check weld sizes with fillet gauges and follow welding procedures
- Set up machines and adjust gas flow to procedure charts
- Operate stud welders; hold voltage, amperage and wire feed to specification
Fitter
Jacksonville, FL · Full time
Read and interpret shop drawings and build to specification.
- Recognize weld symbols; lay out rises, slopes and bevels with framing squares
- Pass tack weld tests in the 3F and 4F positions
- Demonstrate proficiency in cambering
- Fit and fabricate structural steel with squares, grinders, torches and magnetic drills
- Use plasma and track torches for precise cutting
