Filtration and Coalescing Systems
Separation and filtration that remove liquids and particulates to the rating the turbine manufacturer requires, before the gas is heated and regulated.

Role in the plant
Scrubbers and separators take out free liquids and slugs. Filter/coalescers then capture fine aerosols and particulates. GE Vernova's GER-3620P describes coalescing filters upstream of the performance gas heaters as a best practice for liquid removal.
- Vessels built and documented to the governing pressure code and project basis
- Liquid handling tied to collection tank level alarms
- Element differential pressure shown at FAT
Typical package scope
| Element | Function |
|---|---|
| Scrubbers and separators | Vertical or horizontal vessels that remove free liquids and slugs, sized to maximum flow |
| Filter/coalescers | Elements selected to the OEM filtration rating for fine aerosols and particulates |
| Differential pressure | Monitored across each element stage and alarmed to the PLC |
| Liquid handling | Level-controlled drains to a collection tank with high-level alarm |
| Maintenance | Quick-opening closures for element change-out |
| Redundancy | Duplex or N+1 arrangements for online maintenance |
Design basis
Each package is engineered to the project requirements, specifications, governing codes and OEM requirements that apply, for a single installation or a standardized fleet.
| Design input | What it determines |
|---|---|
| Gas composition | Liquids, solids and contaminants expected in the site gas |
| Flow range | Minimum to maximum flow |
| Operating pressure | Design and operating pressure at the package inlet |
| Filtration rating | Particle and aerosol removal the turbine OEM requires |
| Liquid removal | Expected carryover and slug handling |
| Area classification | Hazardous-area rating for instruments and controls |
